Wairua Tangata

This painting depicts a man's dream to bring peace and harmony to the Maori people. That all races live side by side with a common goal. When Maori leave the earth plain, they often return as a Taniwha and reside in one area in or near a river where they fulfil its promise to maintain their dream. The Kahu Kuri (dog skin cloak) depicts the coming together of all people. The Ti Eke (saddleback - a native bird) whispers wisdom in our ear. The dream represented by the Kotuku (White Heron) protected by the Teko Teko (Carved Guardian).
