Red Crowned Kakariki

The Red Crowned Kakariki (or Parakeet) is New Zealands commonest parrot, found throughout the main islands and variant sub-species are found on many off-shore islands including a species on Antipodes Island which is the world’s southern most parrot. Unlike most other native birds, the kakariki is permitted to be kept in captivity and they are particularly attractive aviary birds.
