Tui on Kowhai

Both the Tui, a honey eater, and the Kowhai tree are natives of Aotearoa. The Tui found through out New Zealand is a friendly bird and they were kept by Maori as pets. Legend says never tell a Tui your secret as it will let everyone know. Tuis are noted for the beautiful song that can be heard long into the evening when all other birds have settled for the night.Male Tuis are distinguished by the snow white feathers on the throat.
